Do I receive a Maternity Grant?

If you are on a low income or receive government benefits such as income support, jobseekers or tax credits  and if certain criteria apply  there is a grant called the Sure Start Maternity Grant which you can apply for. This is there to help with the initial costs of your baby.

Rules for entitlement to the grant have changed since April 2011

When can I claim the Sure Start Maternity Grant?

You can make the claim between the periods of 11 weeks before the baby is due up to 3 months after the baby’s birth. The payment is a one off from the social fund and is not repaid; currently the payment is £500.

 

How do I claim the Sure Start Maternity Grant

You can apply for a Sure Start Maternity Grant by completing claim pack SF100 (Sure Start).

You should return your completed claim pack to the following address:
